See our lovely audience comments!

If you came to the show please do tell us your thoughts…

Here are some of the most recent and you can read them all on the Faust production page, following the link on the right hand side:

Best production yet! Excellent cast, I heard every word!!! I have enjoyed all your productions very much, but this was the best by far!

I went to see Faust at The Wolsey, Ipswich and saw an absolutely stunning production by Swansea City Opera. The singing and acting were first rate, as was the chamber orchestra. The final scene was, arguably, the most moving one I had ever seen. The production would have graced some of the more renowned stages. It’s great that we are able to see an opera of this quality in our home town.

Please do tell us what you thought of the show and the pre – show talk, if you were able to get there.

  1. Thanks so much for writing Wendy, the chorus were great weren’t they! I’ll make sure the cast see your lovely email and we’re very pleased you enjoyed the evening.

  2. Julie Garnham says:

An amazing and memorizing Milford performance! Your attention to detail in producing this opera was so carefully crafted in choreography, colour and costume, and had us captivated from the excellent pre-show talk right through to the final curtain. Just wonderfully done!! It was my partner’s first ever opera and he was anxious about going but the talk was so helpful for understanding the plot (we heard every word of all the wonderful singers) and the opera’s setting in the life and times of both Goethe and Gounod, my partner has become your latest convert to the genre!!
I am surprised to know that despite the opera’s successful history, it is not staged much these days. I think the story is totally relevant to our times, and your accessible production made it so, regardless of one’s religious outlook. Faust’s archetypal images and effects, staged and played so passionately by Swansea City Opera, still have us talking. Wishing you every success on your tour!! Thank you!!

  3. Thank you Julie, it’s really kind of you to write and we’re thrilled that your partner is a convert, it makes all the hard work worthwhile!

  4. Sue Broadhead says:

Absolutely brilliant performance last night in Ayr. We were sad that there was not a larger audience to enjoy the great singing and playing and conducting, .all working together to produce a memorable evening. Thank you all.

  5. Thank you Sue, it’s very kind of you to write. It’s a wonderful opera and I’m pleased you enjoyed the performance. I’ll forward your comments to everyone.

  6. Anita Liley says:

Thanks for putting on a great production of Faust at The Spa in Bridlington. We hardly have any opera in the East Riding of Yorkshire so please keep coming!

  7. Thank you for writing Anita, we love coming to Bridlington and I hope very much we will be back next year, it will be La Boheme!

  8. Kerry cook says:

I attended La Boheme at the Theatre by the Lake last night. It was my first time going to the Opera. I just felt that I had to thank everyone who was part of this for a most wonderful night. The direction, set and acting was absolutely amazing and the musicians were second to none. I cannot praise this highly enough and having had the opportunity to meet the director and cast. I felt extremely lucky to get a chance to speak more about the production and the company. It has whetted my appetite for opera and I will now be searching for opportunities to see more and introduce family and friends to this amazing medium which brought me so much pleasure. Thanks again to all involved.

  9. Eileen Rowden says:

Enjoyed a wonderful performance at Middlesbrough Theatre last night. The cast were brilliant; Brendan Wheatley’s staging was excellent and the post war setting worked so well. I knew some of the arias in Italian previously but found that they lost none of their beauty in English. Well done everyone and come back soon.

  10. Thank you for writing Eileen, we very much appreciate it and I will pass you comments on to the cast.
    All best

  11. Maria Pearce says:

A lovely performance, with a subtle twist. Accomplished performances. Please come again to Ffwrness, or even closer to Carmarthen as we are Opera lovers and have difficulty attending many venues due to accessibility requirements.

  12. Thank you very much for writing, very pleased you enjoyed the performance. This was our first visit to Ffwrness and we will try and come back again! Such a lovely venue…

  13. Barbara Hetherington says:

Marvellous La Boheme at Abergavenny last night (Sat 23 April). I have seen quite a few productions by European companies, and can honestly says this was the finest. The set, casting, singing, pace and quality of musicianship were all outstanding. I felt it was truly authentic. Thank you everyone for a wonderful, moving and powerful evening. It’s impact is still resonating. Barbara

  14. Thank you so much Barbara, we’re thrilled at your comments and so pleased you enjoyed it.

  15. Stephen Brown says:

Really, really enjoyed the production of Lakme at Paignton. Fantastic singing and impressive production values made for a wonderful evening. Please come back to Paignton with future productions!

  16. Thanks for writing Stephen and so pleased you enjoyed it. As you know the Queen’s Thetre in Barnstaple closed about 3 weeks ago, but The Palace Theatre stepped into the breach and did a fantastic job for us in getting such a large audience in so short a time.
